The paid first step

Make the growth decision before you buy the marketing.

The Pareto Opportunity Map identifies the matter, client, geography and industry combinations most worth pursuing—and tests whether your firm and the market support the choice.

The decision

One recommendation. Clear reasons to pursue it—or not.

Which opportunity should your firm build around now, given its matter history, market conditions, delivery strengths and capacity?

What it is not

Not a generic marketing audit, keyword report or promise of leads, rankings, revenue or profitability.

The analysis model

We look for overlap, not one impressive number.

VALUEHistorical matter evidence
DEMANDMarket opportunity
CAPABILITYProof and delivery strength
CAPACITYAbility to serve the work

Good fit

Built for established firms with evidence to examine.

  • 1
    Named decision-maker

A principal, managing partner or operational sponsor owns the choice.

  • 2
    50–75 recent matters

Ideally completed within the latest 12–24 months.

  • 3
    Capacity to act

The firm can grow one priority practice and record outcomes.

Core evidence

Structured metadata, not confidential files.

De-identified matter ID, matter type, dates, fees or value, geography, lead source, team, segment and outcome where recorded.

Excluded by default

Client names, direct contact details, identity documents, legal documents, legal advice and privileged narrative.

Process

A bounded analysis with a decision at the end.

  1. 1
    Fit review

Confirm the decision, evidence source and constraints.

  2. 2
    Secure evidence collection

Connect read-only access or use an encrypted client workspace.

  3. 3
    Field check and analysis

Agree definitions, compare patterns and label limitations.

  4. 4
    Decision workshop

Review the selected opportunity, rejected alternatives, risks and confidence.

  5. 5
    Implementation scope

Define the smallest complete three-month build.

Frequently asked

Questions before the firm starts.

Do we need exactly 50–75 matters?

That range is the starting threshold. A smaller sample may support a narrower, lower-confidence analysis when interviews or other records add useful evidence.

Do you need client names or matter documents?

No. The standard analysis uses de-identified structured metadata.

Does the fee include implementation?

No. The Map includes the recommendation and implementation scope. Implementation is proposed separately.

Must we use Clio or Smokeball?

No. They are Paretoid's direct launch integrations. Other systems begin with an export or integration assessment.

Can you guarantee results?

No. The Map is a decision aid, not a guarantee of rankings, enquiries, retained matters, revenue or profitability.
